The Bean

Cloud Gate referred to by locals as "The Bean" is the centerpiece of AT&T Plaza at Millennium Park in the Loop community area of Chicago, Illinois.

Cloud Gate

Cloud Gate is British artist Anish Kapoor's first public outdoor work installed in the United States. The 110-ton elliptical sculpture is forged of a seamless series of highly polished stainless steel plates, which reflect Chicago’s famous skyline and the clouds above. A 12-foot-high arch provides a "gate" to the concave chamber beneath the sculpture, inviting visitors to touch its mirror-like surface and see their image reflected back from a variety of perspectives. Inspired by liquid mercury, the sculpture is among the largest of its kind in the world, measuring 66-feet long by 33-feet high.

Jay Pritzker Pavilion

Located in Grant Park, along the edge of Lake Michigan, the Jay Pritzker Pavilion is an open-air venue featuring performances by the Grant Park Symphony Orchestra, as well as jazz, blues, and other world music performances.

Frank Gehry's one-of-a-kind, Deconstructivism styled performance stage is breathtaking. The foils move depending on the type of music being played.

State of the art Sound System.

The Pavilion stands 120-feet high, with a billowing headdress of brushed stainless steel ribbons that frame the stage opening and connect to an overhead trellis of crisscrossing steel pipes. The trellis supports the sound system, which spans the 4,000 fixed seats and the Great Lawn, which accommodates an additional 7,000 people.

Black and Tan

Drenched in history, the Kerryman’s location was once a notorious gangster hangout known as the McGovern Saloon, where the young Dion O’Banion got his start as a singing waiter. In 1978 the location became home to one of the “original” punk clubs and was considered to be the zenith of the original Chicago punk movement.

Chicago Cultural Centre

This Washington Street entrance has Roman arches and exuberant ornamentation. There are three pairs of glass doors with decorative elements. A 34-foot-long elliptical arch of white marble, decorated with glass tesserae, sparkles with the names of great thinkers of the past, including Cicero, Plato, and Livy.

Three Floors of Grand Staircases

The lobby is decorated in rare marbles. The white marble is Italian Carrara, from the same source as the marble used by Michelangelo for his sculpture. The dark green marble is Irish Connemara. Fine hardwoods, stained glass, and polished bronze are also used lavishly throughout.
